From October 2008 onwards I am the group leader of the String Cosmology group. This group started with the VIDI grant "How stable are extra dimensions?" from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), which will run until September 2013. Furthermore, in September 2010 I have been appointed as an assistant professor.
My research interests center on the intersection of string theory and cosmology. A general introduction to these themes can be found here, while particular projects of current interest are listed here.
In addition to research, I teach a number of courses in the Physics curriculum. These include the Master's course on "Elementary particle physics", the Master's student seminar on "The Quantum Universe", the Bachelor's course on "Introduction to theoretical physics" and the Honours College course "From small to large to life" (partly in collaboration with other people).
