Title:
Geometrical Aspects of Double Field Theory
Abstract:

Double field theory implies that we need to go beyond the Riemannian geometry
underlying Einstein gravity in at least two respects: 1) The infinitesimal gauge transformations
are governed by generalized Lie derivatives and can thus not be viewed as infinitesimal coordinate
transformations. I discuss generalized coordinare transformations that suggest a notion of
generalized manifold. 2) Novel curvatures have to be introduced that are compatible with these
generalized coordinate transformations. I discuss a compelling generalization of the usual
Riemann tensor.
