Charged currents in the quark-gluon plasma

Two kinds of electric currents are generated in the quark-gluon plasma that is produced in the off-central heavy ion collisions: the so
called chiral magnetic current that is created as a result of the chiral anomaly of QCD and a classical current that owe its presence to the time
dependence of the magnetic field and expansion of the plasma. These currents all have specific imprint on the charged hadron spectra produced in these
collisions. Since the QGP is strongly coupled one needs non-perturbative techniques to study these electomagnetic properties of the plasma. I will
discuss how to use a combination of holographic and hydrodynamic methods to study this problem.
